Pickup day playbook — the perfect handoff in 10 minutes
A repeatable handoff routine that prevents 90% of disputes and earns five-star reviews.
The night before
Wash the exterior and vacuum the interior. A spotless car earns 'cleaned to perfection' tags from guests, which feed into the Sparkle Streak rewards program.
Send the guest a friendly check-in: '{{guest_first_name}}, looking forward to tomorrow. I'll meet you at {{pickup_address}} at {{pickup_time}}. Reply here if anything changes.'
Top off fuel or charge to 80–100%. Set climate to a neutral 70°F.
When you arrive at the pickup spot
Greet by name, hand over a bottle of water. The first 30 seconds set the tone for the whole trip.
Open the FairCar app, tap the trip → Start inspection. Walk the car together: exterior on all four sides, both 3/4 angles, dashboard with odometer and fuel/battery clearly visible.
Show the guest where the spare tire, jack, registration, and insurance card live. Demo any quirks: 'this is how the trunk button works,' 'AC takes a moment to kick in.'
Handing over the keys
Confirm the return time and place in person. Both of you tap Confirm pickup in the trip page — that's the legal moment of handoff.
Send one last message: 'You're all set! Text me here if anything comes up. Drive safe.'
