Transparent pricing — no commission on hosts
Hosts pay a flat monthly subscription, only in months they actually book. We never take a percentage of host earnings. Guests see the full breakdown before tapping Book — trip subtotal, the 10% guest fee with a $9.99 minimum, and taxes. No hidden platform markup on either side.
Verified accounts & inspections
Guests verify identity after booking and before the trip starts. Both parties complete required pre-trip and post-trip inspections with photos, odometer, and fuel/battery readings — no inspection, no trip.
Personal policy + security deposit
FairCar runs on guests' personal auto policies plus a tiered refundable security deposit ($300–$3,000 based on vehicle value). We don't sell insurance. Coverage varies by carrier, state, policy, and whether peer-to-peer rentals are covered — always confirm with your insurer before you book or list.
How coverage worksSelf-service disputes
If something goes wrong, our 5-day dispute flow walks both parties through proposals and counter-offers. Most issues settle without FairCar involvement. Critical safety issues escalate to our Trust & Safety team immediately.
