Expert play: mid-trip extensions, early returns, and re-bookings
Guests will ask 'can I keep it one more day?' on every busy weekend. Here's how to say yes profitably — or no gracefully.

Always extend through the platform
Never agree to 'just bring it back tomorrow and Venmo me.' Off-platform extensions void the deposit hold, void insurance coverage, and erase the trip's protection if anything happens during the extra days.
Open the trip → Modify trip → Extend. The guest gets a one-tap approval prompt; their card is re-authorized for the new total and a fresh deposit delta if needed.
Pricing the extension
Default behavior charges the same nightly rate as the original booking. For a same-day Sunday extension into Monday, that's usually a 20–30% underprice vs. live market.
Tap 'Custom price for extension' and quote the higher rate. Frame it like a person, not a system: 'Happy to extend! Monday weekday is $X — want me to lock it in?' Most guests accept; the ones who don't return on time, which is what you wanted anyway.
Early returns
If the guest brings the car back two days early, the booked dates stay paid (no refund) but the calendar reopens for re-listing. This is found money — re-list the freed nights at the next-day price and capture two bookings on the same calendar slot.
Send the guest a kind note: 'No problem on the early return — really appreciate you letting me know.' That single message is worth a five-star review.
