Booking your first car as a guest
From search to keys in hand — what to expect on your first FairCar trip.
Search and book
Pick your pickup city and dates on the home page. Use the filters for vehicle type, transmission, fuel/battery, and host rating.
Tap a listing to see full details: photos, the host's profile, the cancellation policy, included mileage, and any add-on fees. You'll see the total — including the $9.99 minimum guest fee — before you tap Book.
Verify your identity
First-time guests verify identity through our partner: snap your driver's license and take a quick live selfie. The check is automated and usually completes in under a minute.
Your license must be valid and your date of birth on file must satisfy the host's minimum age (usually 21+). Cars with age requirements you don't meet are hidden from your search.
Pickup day
Meet the host at the agreed location. Both of you walk around the car and snap inspection photos through the trip page — exterior, interior, dashboard with odometer and fuel/battery level.
Once inspection is approved, the host hands you the keys. Your trip is live.
