Expert play: recovering from a bad review
A low review can affect your search rank. Here's a practical recovery sequence covering your public response, private follow-up, and listing improvements.

Step 1: Do NOT respond the same day
Wait 24 hours minimum. Same-day responses read as defensive and almost always make the situation worse. Re-read the review the next morning with coffee, not adrenaline.
If the review contains factually false claims, such as damage that wasn't documented, open Report review → Factual inaccuracy and attach evidence from the trip record.
Step 2: Write a 3-sentence public reply
Sentence 1: acknowledge the specific issue ('Sorry the car wasn't as clean as you expected. That's on me.').
Sentence 2: state what you're changing ('I'm adding a 30-min interior detail to my pickup checklist').
Sentence 3: invite them back ('Would love a second chance. Message me and I'll comp your next daily rate'). Keep it public, calm, and accountable. Future guests reading this may give you the benefit of the doubt.
Step 3: Rebuild your rank
Rebuild trust with consistently strong trips. Review your pricing, improve cleanliness and communication, and make each guest experience worth a positive review.
